I flew into T-8 yesterday. They are currently renovating the food services at Terminal 8. Airside, the pickin's are currently slim .Concourse C, gates 34-48 has the best selection and a couple of places where you can sit. Terminal B's former food court was all boarded up except for the pizza place, and there was a Dunkin counter hidden by the escalators down to baggage claim. In the main terminal, Bobby Van's (decent sit down) hasn't been affected. In baggage claim, All that I saw was a news stand.

The TWA hotel is a good suggestion. Personally, I'd take a cab to a diner in Howard Beach and wait there.
