The MO with BA-BA is to not expect it, but by all means ask. While it’s officially a no, I think FLY often shows both flights and that makes it easier for agents to do it - and they certainly have for me (once entirely unprompted… “I see you have a connecting flight…”).
Don't ever count on that. I've had a NCL-LHR-XXX flight on separate bookings, and there was no budging at check-in at NCL. Had to collect bags at LHR and recheck.
