Just received the following email, indicating that instead of matching status 1:1, companions will receive the Mileage Plus status commensurate with the million miler thresholds (E.g., 1MM get Gold).

You're close to flying 1 million miles with us! Once you reach this extraordinary milestone, you'll receive exclusive benefits as a thank you for your long-term loyalty, including lifetime Premier® Gold status and an opportunity to select a companion* on an annual basis to enjoy Premier status. Since you may be getting these perks soon, we wanted to share that we're updating the companion benefits.

Currently, 1 Million Miler companions receive the earned Premier status of their Million Miler sponsor. Starting in 2027, 1 Million Miler companions will receive MileagePlus® Premier Gold status, equal to the Premier status awarded to 1 Million Milers for life.
