I enjoyed the AAA rate when I lived in CONUS, but never thought AARP was worth joining. Now I'm old enough I don't need AARP.
I can confirm that no subsidization ever made it to the property from the AARP relationship. The other posted is more likely correct, that Hilton paid to be recommended by AARP and offer their guests a discount.
