I've only ever been able to get it to work with Apple Wallet
Amazon.com - no go
Plastiq - no go
Affirm - no go
When I called they basically said it can only be used with retail stores, not online (great).
IF you really want to punish yourself, you can load to Apple Wallet, go to a grocery store, buy a DIFFERENT VGC (make sure that the $5.95 fee or whatever) is not over the limit of the card in your Apple Wallet..THEN use that newly purchased card to load to Discover Checking, etc.
I just ended up using it for other things (groceries, home improvements, etc.)
