Lake Como high season prices ABSURD

I've stayed at some of the finest hotels across the world. (Many of the usual suspects and more). Admittedly, since 2023, I haven't traveled anywhere near as much as I have any time before that (1995 to 2020). During this time, hotels anywhere near 1k were the exception. Nevertheless, I never preferred any of those super expensive properties

The rates in 2025 at the handful of hotels mentioned in this thread in lake Como are all 2000++, and a few 3000+, and since even 4000+ per night for standard rooms. There isn't an experience in the world where paying that much per night would be justified.

The travel world broke since pandemic. I pity those who are just starting to travel, especially in luxury. The opportunities to-do so is nearly impossible with any frequency. However,, the world still has many beautiful places, and you just need to discover the lesser popular spots.

I remember paying nearly $900 for the 4S hualalai big island back around 2010... What utter disappointment. So much so that I checked out same day and moved up the coast at (much) less half price to mauna kea, even though I would have paid more!

Rant over.
