I think nobody just takes EWR for just Newark. Everybody understands that it's another airport serving NYC. Hence also my comment about BA who think about First Class to EWR as additional First capacity to New York City.
But even if Air France thinks about EWR as "more New York", I doubt that EWR will be high on their list of P destinations. They'd rather add another P flight to JFK - as for instance they do this summer season, with up to five Premiere flights CDG-JFK-CDG - instead of adding EWR. Or another city.
