It depends.
"AMEX" isn't' really "AMEX" any more. They use the Expedia OTA back-end, which is a mess.
And it also depends how it's reported, if it's AMEX Business Travel (GBT/Egencia), or AMEX consumer/platinum/whatever (Expedia).
But yes, travel by date - if you don't, you lose it - that's part of the rub with OTA's.
For example, my business travel credits (change/cancel) NOT show on Delta.com, since we pool them together if people leave the company.
Receipts show on delta, but not credits when I cancel.
They are only visible in/on the travel agency, and my travel agents haven't helped at all (I had no idea I had $600 in credits recently).
