I understand you plan to fly far east in Y. I am fairly sure the redemptions at least on CX are skewed so badly that you earn a pittance in comparison to BA. Some CX fares earn absolutely nothing and AFAIK there is no tier bonus on CX or QR unless they are BA-coded, so you don't get any advantage in this regard.

As for whether the spend is worth it, if it's natural spend then why not? But I get the impression that your earning is for this TP year (before the start of the TP year commencing on April 2025). If so, 3.5k spend for 1 year of gold and 1 year of silver is okay but personally I wouldn't. 2.2k for 1 year of silver and 1 year of bronze for two people is not bad actually IMO.

Ultimately status only really comes in handy if you travel an awful lot in Y and/or need to transport of LOT of baggage. A lot of the benefits you get in status are already included in J fares (even more so with QR where elites are prohibited from their actual J lounges).
