Did you try selecting seats during booking or afterwards? Try selecting seats under "my trip" on the KLM website (log in with booking details).

I just booked FRA-AMS-NCL on KLM via opodo (without entering my Volare #). Then I went to the KLM website and opened my booking under "my trip". There was no free seat selection.

I then entered my Volare # (you can do it under contact details), and free seat selection immediately became available, along with one piece of checked baggage. So Volare should work on KLM.
