The first wing is a lot nicer than the direct fast track outside. In effect the first wing provides 'super fast track' as fewer people are eligible (only Gold and higher or F passengers, whereas mere Silvers and J qualify for fast track).
You will have to hold your nose as you enter directly into the F lounge at T5 rather than the CCR, but it is a *very* short walk. At the end of the tunnel continue walking until you see the normal entrance to the lounge on your left, head to that, straight through and straight across to the CCR.
NB If you are travelling to the US your flight might be leaving from B gates, in which case you might find it nicer to go to the B lounge to wait for your flight. I know I do that as I am also an anxious person and want to wait as close to the gate as possible.
The CCR is definitely worth popping in to to see it. And I might be tempted to have breakfast there rather than in the hotel even if I planned to later move to the B lounge.
