I meant that Americans are most likely to demand or expect service. This usually causes conflict in countries with different service concepts than they are used to in the US, i.e. in Europe having to make tremendous effort to get the attention of a waiter instead of having one showing up at your table shortly after sitting down to take an order for drinks and then returns for the meal order.

But let's say Americans are the only ones I have ever experienced vigorously defending the "flight attendants are not there to provide service, but only there for your safety" principle.
Those are the American airlines not the American consumers which I'm sure have different expectations.
