Indigo Berlin Ku’damm
What is your Priority Club status?
Ambassador Diamond
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
In general yes.
I stayed for one night on points before moving to the InterContintental for another night. The hotel is a five minutes walk from Berlin Zoologischer Garten Sation and a short walk to Kurfürstendamm and Breitscheidplatz.
I booked a Standard Room using the points sale in February. I received an upgraded room (Premium Room on the second highest floor). Check in was good. I was checked in by a trainee with assistance from the front desk manager. He pointed several things out. He asked in advance if it was possible as it might take some more time, but he wanted to show the status recognition and what to look after.
I played along. I asked for a possible late check-out and the trainee told me to ask in the morning. I inquired if it would be possible to have the late check-out right now confirmed. She looked at the manager and he explained that this is one of the benefits of Diamond Status and she could confirm it right now and how to set the check-out time to a later time. As the keycard needed to be reprogrammed, he mentioned that she could also have asked in advance before programming the keycard the first time to save the need to reprogram it.
Service of this and other staff members was friendly and attentive.
A small fitness center is available, which I did not use. Breakfast is served from 06:30 on weekdays and from 07:00on weekends in the restaurant adjacent to the lobby. The lobby is medium sized (for an Indigo) but does not offer much seating options.
Breakfast is a buffet with omelet, fried eggs or scrambled eggs available to order. Salami, cheese, vegetables and fruits are available on the buffet. IN addition, there is yoghurt, müsli, humus, jam and pastries as well as bread and rolls. Tea and coffee are available from a machine.
The restaurant is only open for breakfast, but beverage could be purchased from the fridge and the hotel mentioned, that offers from delivery service could be brought to the hotel and one could eat in the restaurant on one of the tables.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard and received Premium Room / Deluxe Room (both terms were used during the stay, the reservation in the app never got updated) facing the street.
How are the rooms?
The hotel is and older refurbished and renovated building.
My room was on the fifth floor and not very large.
The rooms follow the typical Indigo design which I have also experienced in the Indigo Düsseldorf Victoriaplatz. A modern wallpaper-photo behind the bed gave the room a kind of hip design. Furniture uses a combination of green and brown colour.
Right next to the entrance was the closet.
The bathroom with shower, sink and toilet could be reached by a sliding door from the room. Storage space next to the sink was okay. Mirror was not heated. Bathrobe and slippers were provided in the closet in the hallway. Rainforest showerhead was in good condition. Water pressure was good.
Soap and lotion were wall mounted larger bottles (Biology)
Iron and ironing board were placed in the room next to the coffee machine (Tassimo). The desk did not have any sockets, which is a disadvantages, if you could not charge your laptop or table while working.
There was a large bed with two bedside tables and reading lamp on both sides to the left. USB outlets were available at the bedside table.
The tv was facing the bed and wall mounted.
Windows could be opened. As the room was partly facing the front, there was noise from the street.
The space to store luggage, especially larger ones, is very limited.
There was an amenity provided with a small bottle of beer, water and Kinder, Mülsibar and Kinderriegl along with an apple and a tangerine. The hand written welcome card was a nice touch.
The room had blinds which darkened the room.
I paid 16650 points (flexible rate would have been 102 EUR before city tax)
How is the exec. lounge?
N/A
What was good and what was bad?
Good
Rooms have real desk
Good connection to public transport
Windows could be opened, but front is noisier
Staff is friendly and helpful
Amenity
Neutral
small room
storage space for (larger) luggage
Small fitness-center
Bad
Lack of socket at desk
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
The location is good and well connected to public transportation.
Staff is friendly.
Rooms are well maintained, but very small. The room and bathroom are nice though.
The value for points is quite often very good. If you do not mind the small room, this might be a good option, if the IC is either more expensive or you do not need the better facilities or could not use them.
The IC was 240 EUR for the night and only 118 EUR for the second night. The Indigo would have been 92 as advanced purchase rate for both nights. In so far, give my IHG Diamond Ambassador with lounge pass I decided to switch hotels after the first night.
