I absolutely hate that normally on those occasions when AA FAs decide to actually do their job, they do their job wrong and wait until near the end of boarding to offer PDBs (and give you a chance to beg them to hang your jacket).

PDBs and jacket-hanging should happen when boarding starts, not when it ends.
The issue is the gate agents well start boarding everyone asap, instead of giving some time between groups,. Getting the plane out on time is rule #1
