To be more serious, be aware that some OW partners (e.g. QR) would drop your seat assignment or ask you to pay. instantaneously. Status perks are valid based on status at time you fly, not book. Some airlines are quite strict on that issue. Others don't have the IT to enforce it fully, especially on seat assignment.
The timing of the change might be important, including for some of other status perks (checking at business counters when traveling in Y, extra bag allowance, fasttrack, etc..).
