BA GCH here who is unsurprisingly looking to jump ship to RJ for future trips. I have over 30 segments booked with OW airlines and my understanding is that this should get me to sapphire with them.
My question relates to to FF info on bookings. If I add my shiny new RJ number to future bookings in order to earn status with them, will this complicate being able to enjoy the benefits that my current gold card allows? Has anyone had experience of this before? Ie- holding BA status whilst simultaneously crediting BA flights elsewhere (with no status with the partner airline). Am I likely to be denied entry to lounges/ priority check- in etc because the initial RJ number they see won’t register as being OW sapphire (at least until I earn this)?

You are far from the first person to encounter this predicament (especially since the BA
EC changes). Generally speaking, if you're happy to forego free seat selection it is very straightforward - enter your RJ number when booking and then show your BA Gold card anywhere that you want to use the ground benefits (check-in, lounge etc.)
The main complication you'll encounter will be where you are reliant on airport-run fast track security, as the dragons there will often insist on seeing Fast Track on your boarding pass and may not accept you waving a Gold card. You will be fine at the First Wing though.
Alaska Airlines are the only OW airline to have a policy of not allowing you to credit to one FF scheme whilst using the benefits of another FF scheme.
