I agree. I, too, often fly when the fares are very good, but I don't call them mileage runs. My goal is always RDM. Having never flown any Saver, BE, HBO... fares, I wasn't aware that Saver flights still earned full Lifetime Miles.
Generally, a mileage run thread is for achieving status or milrstones, so this is an interesting perspective. I think it is a very small niche group that would be "running" for Lifetime Status who are willing to exchange flexibilty and earn fewer RDM in that pursuit.
The other issue is that EQM & Lifetime miles are different metrics. It is like a SDC and a change on the same day of travel. They are two different things. Likewise, saying EQM on a Saver fare is 2.2 cpm isn't accurate. Saying Lifetime miles are 2.2 cpm is. It is an important distinction.
