I purchased the $3 Ultra Mobile plan ($10 sim kit and service) for the VOIP port then ported to Google Voice for $20. After porting to Ultra, I received the verification text from GV. I did both ports the same day. The process was Vonage to Ultra to Google Voice for our old landline. My wife and I both receive the GV calls.

Is this the cheapest way to do this? I've been thinking about this for a while, but I also care about the phone number. What's the best way to check for certain numbers from specific area codes that I'm interested in?
