Cannot get boarding pass to US

I'm 0/2 in being able to get my boarding pass to the US in app on check in within the last week.

The first time I thought I had been SSSS'd but that was not the case at AC check in at the airport. Then the US customs officer said it was because I checked in with my Nexus (which never used to be a problem).
So this time I checked in with my passport but also attached my Nexus number as per usual. Both husband and I got the same message. We're on the same PNR

I get that they need to do a docs check but this is mildy infuriating to have to an extra step every time, and to also carry a paper boarding pass. Not sure what's changed within the system but is this happening to anyone else?

Concierge seems to think there's nothing wrong either "Upon reviewing the booking everything looks good unfortunately they need to pick-up the boarding pass at the airport due to a manual swipe of the passport."
