I would also push back further. If you submitted a flight delay claim, consider submitting a trip interruption claim. I believe they may be two different insurance policies.

Also, I would use the language they have in the policy as your reason for coverage as mentioned above. I suggest not even mentioning the DL flight as that would just complicate your claim and wasn’t your original carrier. Good luck!
