I doubt it's trip.com that is cancelling your booking - it's almost certainly the underlying transport provider. Any booking agent like trip.com also dislikes their customers booked travel being cancelled because they now have a job to sort it out which eats into their operating margins.
As I suggested in post 14, it would have been completely impossible for trip.com (the international side) to cancel any bookings before it existed. The idea of registering for an FT account just to rant about something that happened 8 years ago is a headscratcher, though. (China's business landscape changes quickly.)
