May I suggest not confronting the pilot in the future? In all likelihood the flight crew were just as frustrated as you were. Just send an email to AA customer service with the details of the flight. It will be forwarded to the flight crew's supervisor for review.
I'm sure they were, but the difference is that the pilots are being paid to sit there. The passengers are paying to sit there. It is not at all the same IMO.
Pax deserve communications. It's really not that difficult to make an announcement unless you are
in the air troubleshooting an emergency situation. The tarmac at MIA is not that.
