American Airline Pilot rejected my complaint out of hand about no announcements?
I was on a flight from hell during the evening from Miami. First, the flight was delayed for over an hour without any explanation from the gate staff. Then when we finally loaded the plane, they finally closed the door, and we waited at the gate without explanation in a 90-degree heat for about an hour. Not a word from the flight crew.
Then we slowly made our way to the runway. It was nearly 90 degrees in the plane. It was dark and I could not see where the plane was, but the taxi took over an hour. The only announcement from the flight crew was a statement about 15 minutes after we started moving that flight attendants should prepare for takeoff. About an hour later, the plane still had not reached the runway.
My complaint is that the pilot did not announce anything to the passengers. Maybe there were twenty planes in front of us. Or we were sitting in the penalty box and would be waiting for hours due to the air traffic control issue. Who knows!
I approached the pilot in a very polite and friendly manner after the plane landed and asked him why he did not make any announcements to the passengers during the long wait, and he rejected my question/comment out of hand rudely. He simply said the delays were normal and walked away.
Just keep us informed so we know what to expect. The waiting in the 90-degree plane was cruel and unusual punishment. What are your expectations in this type of situation?
