Hey all, I thought I'd give everyone a final update given a recent change - as of Thursday the 30th of January I have finally received compensation from Lufthansa for my and my wife's delayed flight!? However, this did not seem to come about as a result of the letter I sent as I never heard anything back on this. On Sunday the 26th of January I opted to send both Jens Ritter (CEO of Lufthansa Airlines) and Carsten Spohr (CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG) an email detailing my disappointment of and alienation from Lufthansa as a result of how they had dealt with my compensation claim, concisely outlining all of the emails sent and received since I made my initial claim back in January 2024.
There were so many issues throughout the whole process, multiple underhanded attempts to reject my claim, significant delays from their customer relations team (up to four months at one point despite regular chasing), ridiculous requirements like wanting an additional Power of Attorney as the signature on the one we had provided was "illegible" in their words (which seems nonsensical to me as signatures are inherently personal by nature), and having to provide my bank details on 8 separate occasions (they had clearly never saved my details). A generic apology was subsequently issued by the customer relations team on Monday the 27th of January, and the money finally arrived in my account three days later. So for anyone currently struggling to get their compensation through the standard routes, please give emailing the CEOs a go!
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who responded to this thread, I really appreciate all the help you've given me. I'm glad this ordeal is finally over, and going forwards I will make sure to never fly with Lufthansa again and will advise all friends & family against it for causing me so much stress and taking away so much of my time.
