I'm flying from Europe to SFO via ORD and due to an unexpected conference I have to attend, I actually need to be at ORD the day after my ORD-SFO flight. I'm hoping to use SDC to delay my ORD-SFO leg to the next day. If I do this, can I take my bag at the recheck area and check it in the next day? I'm thinking it would be something like:
- Get on the first leg to ORD
- Do SDC after I'm in the air
- Arrive at ORD, claim my bags at recheck and leave the airport
- The next day, show up at the airport and check my bags again
Does this work? What do I tell the counter agent when I show up with my bags the following day?

It can be difficult to do an SDC with checked bags, but the app might allow it. Note that you're going to need fare class availability in your current fare class and it'll need to be less than 24 hours from teh time you're making the change. If it's $2K to make that change now, I suspect one or both of those conditions don't exist.
