I suspect college students going from Tokyo to Sydney. This has been my experience on QF as well in paid F - young people that don't look the part. Rich people have children.
I don't see anything wrong with T-shirts or even flip flops. As long as you are covered and the attitudes/noises presented by the passengers are normal, that's enough.
We are trying to relax on a flight for a leisure trip, not just wearing business attires for the next meeting. I often just go on flights with pajamas.
