I have a ticked booked through aa.com.
Original flights DUB-CLE - EL - Business
ORD-JFK - AA - Business (BA codeshare)
JFK-MAD - IB - Business (BA codeshare)

The flight back from ORD to JFK was just cancelled and they automatically rebooked me onto a much later flight that causes me to miss my connection to MAD at JFK. Originally was something like 11 AM - 14.45 ORD-JFK. Now is 5.16 PM - 8.40 PM and thus missing the Iberia flight that leaves at 4.45 PM.

I cannot rebook on BA or AA, just says to call.
Have the following questions:
1. What can I ask for - can I ask to be rebooked on the direct IB from ORD-MAD?
2. Can I change dates of the return journey? How much ahead?
3. Can I change dates of the outbound journey? Change carrier to AA/BA/QR (tier points) - is that an option?
4. Can I change end destination from MAD to LHR for example? Or FCO? Is there a radius minimum? Or is this not allowed at all?
5. Should I be ready with fights that I want to be rebooked on when I call or should rely on them? All flights were booked in I class, does it need to be the same one in order to be rebooked on that flight?
6. Generally how flexible are AA with rebookings?
AA is pretty flexible in situations like this, you may be able to shift your dates by a day or two, but they're not going to let you change your trip from Madrid to Rome.

Given the cancellation it will be no problem to get rebooked on the ORD-MAD nonstop.

Or, if you really want to end in LHR, ask for ORD-LHR-MAD and just get off at LHR. Obviously that only works if you're carry-on only.

Whatver you decide on, when you call ask specifically for those flights, do not rely on the agent to give you options.
