IHG just screwed me

Long-shot, but this seems to be the most relevant place to ask:

We were booked for 3 nights at the Holiday Inn Express Springdale Zion, scheduled for arrival in 2 weeks. Just received an email from IHG this morning saying that our reservation was abruptly cancelled due to the property changing ownership to Hyatt....what the hell? We booked this reservation 6+ months ago, and they give me less than 2 weeks cancellation notice?

IHG email states that they refunded our points and free night certs used to book the stay, but now that we are so close-in to arrival, the cash rates at all the Springdale hotels are much higher, and reasonable points booking availability is almost non-existent at the IHG, Marriotts, and Hiltons nearby. Not to mention this new "Hyatt Place" is not accepting points reservations yet.

Do we have any recourse with IHG here? This seems ridiculous they can do this so close to our arrival date without prior notice. If I had been given any indication this hotel was on the outs with IHG, I'd have made a backup booking months ago!

WOuld anyone from Hyatt give a s***? I'm considering calling the hotel directly and explaining the situation to ask if they'll give us a discounted cash rate for re-booking the same rooms that I booked 6 months ago....do I have a shot?

Grrrrr...
