Not particularly uncommon. I was on a CX award flying JL SIN-NRT-SEA in January 2024, there was a flight delay on the inbound so JL took over the ticket and reissued SIN-NRT-YVR-SEA (last segment AS). Booked in J and credited as if it was a paid ticket with my AS FFN on it. EQM bonus and all.
