Gates at Heathrow can change 3 times even when the aircraft is on the ground taxiing. The gates at T5 are almost entirely interchangeable too, both longhaul and shorthaul can depart from T5A, B or C. Domestic can go from either T5A or B (C is excluded due to there not being biometrics set up at any gates there.

I do agree that gates for longhaul flights could be published earlier though.
