The Delta agent could see Z inventory available, but the JV desk (or whatever it’s called) couldn’t get KLM to release them. It makes no sense to me
Yes I think it’s becoming clear HUCA is your best friend. I had plenty outbound availability but only saw Z1 availability for my return flight.

I called in and my next 4 calls went like this:
1. agent said GUCs don’t work on KLM operated, I said transfer me to global partner, then global partner desk said the same (yikes).
2. Called again and got connected all the way through but global partner agent claimed no Z space.
3. Waited a day or two and now the flight showed Z2 so I called again and ended up being told the same that there was no availability.
4. I was about to give up and just call one last time to upgrade only my outbound flight. Agent seemed inexperienced at first but I suggested connecting to global partner desk yet again. I was put on hold for 30 minutes, no updates…and voila it was all processed and reticketed successfully. All legs of the round trip ticket.

Moral of the story: learn to get good at HUCA and do other things while on hold. Sometimes it works perfectly first try (happened to me last time, finished first try within 20 minutes), sometimes it takes a few agents. Don't waste your time arguing with agents.

Good luck everyone!
