You tried "delayed fight insurance" I assume. I had a flight change last Christmas that they wouldn't cover (for various corner case reasons irrelevant to your question), but after some prodding they covered it under the "flight interruption insurance" section of the credits card's insurance, so if you havnt tried that, it might be worth considering. Its well worth looking at the detailed insurance coverage rules of that section - I made sure I new precisely what subsections of flight interruption rules applied to me before my second (successful) attempt to get them to pay,
