Just received a call from the CIBC credit card insurance team. They aren't going to cover any expenses for delayed/cancelled flights due to the DL 4819 crash at YYZ as it is not a covered reason. Was hoping to expense a couple of nights in a hotel as we were stuck in MEX. Curious if anyone is in the same boat and what you would suggest? You tried "delayed fight insurance" I assume. I had a flight change last Christmas that they wouldn't cover (for various corner case reasons irrelevant to your question), but after some prodding they covered it under the "flight interruption insurance" section of the credits card's insurance, so if you havnt tried that, it might be worth considering. Its well worth looking at the detailed insurance coverage rules of that section - I made sure I new precisely what subsections of flight interruption rules applied to me before my second (successful) attempt to get them to pay,
