I won't go on a rant about the rot economy and how Google's rapaciousness enables criminals like these, but you can guarantee AC and WestJet (their main competitor here in Canada) would not share the same phone number, and SteadyHealth.com should not be the first thing that shows up when searching an airline's phone number

Sounds like you might not have fallen for it anyway, but glad you came to FT and we may have been able to help somewhat.

Do keep a close eye on your booking though. I'm not an expert in these scams, but the scammers definitely have enough information that they could cancel your return or otherwise make your life difficult. Hopefully it will all be fine, but better to be vigilant. You might also want to contact LX to let them know that your PNR may have fallen in to the hands of scammers and they should take whatever extra security measures they can before processing any changes/cancellations - I think I've read about people doing this to try to protect themselves in situations like yours, although to be clear, I don't know much about this.
Thanks. I didn't actually fall for the scam as I couldn't see why I would have to pay more for a flight I was pretty confident was already fully paid for. But this was definitely a scam attempt -- I don't think I every clicked through to the web site -- I just googled and saw a "short result" and copied that number. Lesson learned! I should have inluded a "site:aircanada.com" in my search".

Good idea to alert LH/LX... will do that...

thanks again to all those offering sage advice!

I tried contacting LH via their whatsapp channel, but they said it wasn't possible to add a note to the PNR. Bit surprised about that since I know i've had this happen with other airlines, maybe even LH, in the past. Oh well, i've tried, and I'll definitely monitor the booking!
