I totally agree. I booked AC Hotels in Spain since I expected to have breakfast included but now I realize it is a coin toss. The $10x2 per day will probably pay for one breakfast, or at least that is what I discovered when we stayed at a Courtyard in Budapest last year.
I also have two nights booked at a Moxy in Belgium. It is an opening special that includes breakfast, so hard to know if my status will mean anything.
Here in Japan Moxy gives elites breakfast, as does Courtyard (but not Fairfield or Sheraton Four Points Flex!). Although a Starwood member for decades, the Marriott brands constantly confuse me. Until recently I thought AC was an abbreviation for Autograph Collection.
