It's been there for at least six months. I first discovered in early October, when I entered "LAX cell phone lot" in my navigation system. I fully expected to directions to the old cell phone lot on 96th Street near the old Lot C (I use the navigation system more for real time traffic information than directions). Instead of directing me to that lot, it led me to the "
LAX Cell Phone Waiting Lot (West)." The only other vehicles there were car service drivers waiting to pick up their clients. It was much quicker to get to the central terminal area from the new lot than from the old one.
LAX Cell Phone Waiting Lot
LAX has two Cell Phone Waiting Lots where motorists meeting arriving passengers can wait for free, up to two hours, until passengers are ready to be picked up in the Central Terminal Area.
The Original Cell Phone Waiting Lot is located at the Northwest corner of 96th Street and Vicksburg Avenue. It located just east of Sepulveda Boulevard, one-quarter mile west from the 96th Street Bridge entrance into LAX's passenger terminal area. It is easily accessible from the north and east by motorists using La Tijera, Sepulveda, Manchester and Century Boulevards to access LAX. The Original Cell Phone Waiting Lot is open 24 hours a day.
The Secondary Cell Phone Waiting Lot is located at the Northwest corner of 96th Street and Alverstone Avenue. It is accessible from the north and south by motorist using Sepulveda Boulevard and via Century Boulevard for individuals traveling westbound.
The Secondary Cell Phone Waiting Lot is open daily from 6 AM - 2 AM.
No commercial vehicles or ride-service vehicles are allowed. Vehicles in the LAX Cell Phone Waiting Lots must be attended at all times. No parking is allowed in or around this facility.
Effective April 1, 2019, there will be no more shuttle service at the Cell Phone Waiting Lot. For shuttle service to LAX, Cell Phone Waiting Lot customers will have to use LAX City Bus Center Bus Bays 11 and 12. In addition, passengers can obtain local transit information by calling
