Have you investigated what the Minimum Connecting Time is at LAX for SQ to AS domestic? If your 1:37 falls before the MCT, I would not assume that SQ would through-check your baggage.
When is the next departure -- on any carrier -- from LAX to your ultimate destination?
To close the loop here, SQ had no issues at NRT checking our baggage through to SFO with the LAX connection on a separate ticket, despite the fact that it was below MCT for LAX. The Singapore flight arrived almost an hour early and we wound up waiting at the Alaska gate for well over an hour and a half.
