There used to be a warning popup, on the website at least, right after booking.
Last year, I also mistakenly booked one of these. Or more precisely, a UA phone agent did on my behalf even though I specifically told them not to. (I was trying to get a changeable W fare for PP purposes)
If there hadn’t been a warning on the reservation right after booking, I wouldn’t have noticed.
