SUCCESS! SUCCESS! SUCCESS! Forgive me for shouting it from the rooftop, but after agonizing for weeks: calling AA every other day and checking space myself multiple times per day...
I have been moved to the midday departing flight ORD/NRT from the ORD/HND. It has been ticketed and I can see it on JAL's end via its app. Just reserved my seat. Only two other seats appear to have been reserved in First. Wow! This is such a load off. Thanks to you and others for your calm approach and suggestions. I have never been through something like this before.
