It is a nice upgrade. Food, drinks, space, seat. Especially the bulk head places are great for space and you can move a little around there
Would never pay the money difference though.
I'm with you on this one. The money asked for PE is not worth it, the diffrence in soft product and especially seat is not big enough to pay the premium price versus Y. Then I rather pay for J straight and get a lie flat seat.
The avios price on the other hand is quite ok, I spent 17 000 avios recently to upgrade to PE on a 12 hour daytime flight, worth it in my books, ofcourse depending on how much you value an avios at or how much you paid per avios.
