I was on BA2711 (FUE-LGW) that was delayed - we landed at about 0100 on the 19th, about four and a half hours late. The plane suffered a technical issue at FUE. However...it had also landed at FUE late after the outbound BA2710 had to divert back to LGW. The same plane was used but they replaced the crew.
There aren't many clues for me on that FUE service. Yes BA2710 LGW-FUE is marked as "forced to return", and that is 3 hours of the 4.5 hour delay. In that circumstance a crew change is required due to the fact they don't stay over in FUE and it's one of the longer B2B sectors for the crew. Because that return to LGW is most of the delay, this is where we need to find out more. The original flight wasn't very long, just to the Isle of Wight and back, Then there was a 2 hour hold in LGW, presumably to get the crew change. If it was a passenger who was ill or otherwise unable to complete the journey then that would be extraordinary circumstances. TECY would be different. So I'm not throwing much light on this, but it seems reasonable to put in a claim here.
