As I and others have mentioned... the vast majority of the 'good' award value is outside of the US and in particular parts of Asia. You're basically not going to see any sort of significant point drop in a property in the US. If you can get a few k points back then that is a 'win' albeit minor... and you're already likely getting less than 0.8c/pt value in the US anyway.
What the removal of the award chart and start of dynamic pricing has done is significantly inflate the top end of awards. CYs charging 50k+ per night is insane, and same with run of the mill FS Marriott/Sheratons charging 65k+/nt.
