I did the same thing. And was told there was no space they couldn't move me. But I just called Advantage again. Finally got an agent who said she will contact the desk (I guess the OW representative desk that deals with such issues?)and ask them to reach out to JAL. Nothing may come of it, but at least this is the first agent who has gone this far. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I requested that liaison desk by the 30 second mark (I usually have to endure several failed agent-performed searches before I can slip that in without coming across like an ..., but I happened to catch an amenable agent). After that, everything fell into place like clockwork. I knew that inventory existed, and switching to a flight that leaves within 30 minutes of what I had originally booked proved to be an easy ask. I give you good odds of pulling off your switch as well because this is a very significant schedule change.
