I thought that was a great benefit, as it was unexpected as I didn't remember booking any kind of special rate, but assume that I had. We thought it was found money. What they didn't make clear was that it was "included in the destination fee" and not "included in the room rate," nor did we even realize there was a destination fee (not that it would have surprised me these days) - the connection between the F&B credit and destination charge wasn't made until much later. When the gov't rate checked in, this wasn't mentioned either way, so we just assumed that the gov't rate didn't come with the F&B credit, even though we knew separately that it didn't get charged the destination fee. Once we put all of the pieces together and solved the puzzle, it left a bad taste.
I don't doubt that it's true that in general and as a matter of policy that Hyatt gov't rate guests get the resort fee benefits without having to pay the fee, but are there situations in the Hyatt portfolio where there's a substantial F&B credit included in the destination fee, and those on the gov't rate still get it even though they don't pay the fee?
I don’t know about gov rate if you are never charged a fee. But for those with Globalist status, you do get the FB credits even if the fee is waived.
