TripAdvisor reviews have to be red with a certain element of skepticism. I have some rules.

One if everyone at the hotel was rude and mean ignore the review. I’ve never been anywhere where everyone was rude unless the person being treated that way was rude and mean first. So after you went in there and showed your you know what and the staff didn’t kiss it, if you decide to write a nasty review it says more about you than the hotel

if a review includes whining about the airplane flight or the taxi ride or the weather, etc. Ignore it. I’m sorry that the person writing doesn’t understand the difference between an airline and a hotel but I do and there’s no need to clutter a review up with your garbage about everything that went wrong everyone on your vacation

If the words, it was my birthday, anniversary, whatever special event I made up for the day, appear even if followed by the words and while I didn’t expect an upgrade, one would have been nice. Ignore the review. They wanted an upgrade because they think they’re special. They didn’t get one and now they’re whining.

and then you have to look at the reviewer’s history. Several of us were just howling at a review yesterday. Clicking army person‘s name on TripAdvisor brought up some interesting facts Everybody hates her, everybody in the world is racist. We don’t know what her race is, but everybody else is racist. when she got to Europe everyone did not speak English. They wouldn’t take her dollars etc. etc. some people are just going to go around the world, being unhappy.

and then there is the trash. I know a woman who posted a review about once a month for a year about a hotel in Orlando. It was a horrible review, but do you know what the hotel really did wrong? When the airline lost her luggage the hotel didn’t upgrade her as compensation. She posted that review monthly for a year under different names. I don’t know if the resort finally threatened her or if she just got bored, but she has quit doing it. She does wonder why none of us will ever go on vacation with her.😂
