I really appreciate the thoughts on Koh Samui v. Langkawi. I do see a good bit of appreciation for the Vana Belle on here, so I may be due to give it another look. When you went, did you have any Marriott status? How was it if you did? I haven't stayed at a Luxury Collection Resort, so I am curious to hear about how they typically treat Marriott status.
Yes, had titanium status both times we've visited. First time got an upgrade to the premium ocean pool villa and second time got upgrade to grand pool suite (paid cash and booked lowest level room on both). Grand pool suite is obviously nicer, but would've been happy with both rooms. Other perks are free breakfast (elite members get mimosas with breakfast) and then a welcome gift. breakfast gets old after day 4 or so, but still happy to have it.
Over all though elite recognition was good and would go back.
