I have stayed at all three. The HR is your basic large meetings and business hotel. It's a bit tired and the service was lackluster in the bar and restaurant. Overall, the Thompson is the nicest in terms of product and service. On certain days, breakfast and lunch are only available in the bars. The lobby bar has the better menu, IMO. Unfortunately, its location is not the best, but that area seems to be growing. There is a free shuttle boat that makes a few stops along the river that can help with the walk. Overall, the Andaz is the best located being on Ellis Square. I have only had breakfast there which is fine. Service is good. Be aware their standard suites are the Ellis Square Suites which can be a bit cramped.

We live in Charleston and usually visit Savannah 2-3 times a year. It is kind of a local 'thing'. People who live in Charleston like to go to Savannah on the weekends and the people in Savannah like to visit Charleston on the weekends. You can't go wrong visiting either one. They are two of the best traditional Southern cities.
