We solicited prices from hotels comparable to the Savoy (big name traditional) and the Savoy was the cheapest except the Dorchester and Browns, and my mother preferred the location of the Savoy. I think Browns was a few hundred dollars more. Remember we weren't comparing least expensive rooms, but rooms of a minimum size with walk-in shower. We obtained the extra benefits like Virtuoso offers by booking through AE. But I didn't want to defend my choices, I was trying to interpret some exceptionally negative reviews about the Sofitel, I am sure there are such reviews for all hotels but I found these striking because thye were recent.
I struggle with social media reviews for my own business and intepreting them in a variety of environments, whether it be business or restaurants or hotels or whatever.
Perhaps you should ask here about the Sofitel
