In the future, obviously booking with only one FF number is ideal. Another option is to do what you did, ask at the check-in, gate, and lounge to confirm the FF number has changed. But keep doing that with every new carrier. Maybe if you checked with the Skyclub in ATL they'd see your DL number still in their system and could change it. I don't think you did anything wrong here, it's just a very messy system.
I suppose so. Thing is, I booked this itinerary (and registered my SkyMiles number with it) a long while ago, and long before I decided to switch to FB. I’d thought that the FFP number added at the time of purchase wasn’t permanent to that reservation… at the SkyClub, they told me that they couldn’t do anything at the lounge, and that they could help me at the gate instead. There, the agent told me that my FB number was correctly noted in the system, though the miles went to SkyMiles anyway…
