The flight crew didn’t get to their hotel until 12:30am since they were the last to leave KEF. Probably 80+% of pax did not get any food at hotels due to late arrival time. Crew didn’t have food at their hotel either.
I found out why there weren’t any f&b vouchers- the way it works at KEF is the airlines load voucher amounts onto boarding passes so you can pass at food place & credit is available. Since we didn’t have boarding passes no vouchers. Plus AA isn’t set up here with their voucher system. We can send in receipts for our f&b purchases to AA for reimbursement.
Pax received diff levels of miles awarded as a sort of delay compensation. Ranges from 5k-15k miles. C =15k I think. Prob diff depending on which cabin you’re ticketed in. Not sure.
AA flew in gate agents from London (hurray!) on first BA flight this morning. They arrived at 11am - about 5 mins before flight crew walked in. Before they showed up with their laptops to allow access to AA system through KEF hardware absolutely nothing was happening. We waiting in line from 9:30am onwards. Finally started issuing boarding passes around noon. KEF ground staff have no ability to tap into AA system (BA system would be helpful either). Obviously 1pm dep overly optimistic. Taking off now at 3pm.
also, zero ability to rebook connections so pax are hopefully something will happen while we are flight.
This really screams a lack of process to me with AA (surprise?). I know KEF isn't an airport they fly to, but there should be basic procedures in place for a diversion to
any airport, regularly AA served or not.
