If nothing else, the distances are a lot greater at t2. as you say, I know at a fast walk from stepping off the plane at t3 I can get to the train station in 10 minutes - I doubt that would be possible for t2.
I agree T2 is not a great design just miles of walking. It’s also does not help that the terminal is not finished and the construction work just gives you detours. The only thing I like currently at t2 is the evening departures. Currently it’s nice and quiet. Manchester has had so many potentials but anything they do it seems to me always choosing the worst options.
